New Hometown Hero banners are on display not only in downtown Louisburg this Veterans Day but also can be found along the newly reconstructed S. Metcalf Road.
The Hometown Hero banners honor past and current military members who have a connection to Louisburg or Miami County.
Thanks to a gift from the Louisburg American Legion and Legion Auxiliary, banners have been added along the new sidewalk on S. Metcalf Road.
There’s still time to order a banner for this cycle. There are about 20 more banner spots available. The banners are $75 and may be ordered by completing this application.
The new banners will be on display for Veterans Day 2023 and 2024 and Memorial Day 2024 and 2025.
After Memorial Day 2025, banners will be given to the family and at that time they have the option to purchase a new banner. The lifetime of a banner is about two years due to the wear and tear from Kansas winds. Persons purchasing a banner may also submit a biography of the honoree’s time in the military. These bios are then posted to the Chamber of Commerce’s website under the Hometown Hero tab. The bios and updated images should be available on the Chamber’s website next week.
The program is a partnership between the Louisburg American Legion, the Chamber of Commerce and City of Louisburg.
