Holiday Magic on Broadway is coming to downtown Louisburg from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3. The headline of the afternoon will be a visit with Santa Claus for the kids at City Hall, 215 S. Broadway, while the Grinch will be on hand for a family photo opportunity at the Louisburg Library, 206 S. Broadway.
Families interested in visiting with Santa and the Grinch can make an appointment by calling the Louisburg Library at 837-2217 or City Hall at 837-5371, ext. 0. Visits with Santa and the Grinch will be set up in 15-minute increments to allow plenty of time for kids to go over their Christmas wish list. While most activities don’t start until 3 p.m., appointments to see Santa will be accepted starting at noon while the Grinch will be available at 1:30 p.m.
City Hall staff, the Louisburg Library, the Chamber of Commerce and the Louisburg Recreation Commission are partnering for the holiday fun.
Other activities include carriage rides, a storywalk, cookie decorating with Mrs. Claus, hot cocoa and cider stations, snowball fight, Ride the Reindeer, and for those 10 and above, axe throwing with a soft axe throw for the younger set. Children will also be able to visit the burros at the Louisburg Burros station. The evening will cap off with Mayor Donna Cook lighting the Community Christmas Tree at 6 p.m. and then Santa will lead a light-up parade from S. First to S. Fifth streets after which he will jet off to the North Pole. The Louisburg High School Marching Wildcats will participate in the parade since their October Electric Light Show was canceled due to inclement weather. Broadway from S. First to S. Third will be closed for the afternoon’s activities while Broadway from S. Third to S. Fifth will close about 5:30 for the parade. These activities are all free.
Everyone is invited to participate in the lighted parade.
