Mission; Value; Vision; Goals
The City Council agreed to start working on mission and vision statements for the City with this work happening during workshops that are conducted prior to the start of each council meeting. The Council directed City Administrator Nathan Law to assist with this rather than hiring a facilitator.
Appointments process
The Council approved a timeline for the appointments process that includes advertising for vacant positions, the mayor interviewing for those vacancies, staff assisting the mayor in compiling bios for the recommended appointments and providing that list to the full City Council at the first meeting in February ahead of the confirmation of appointments at the second Council meeting in February.
In other action, the City Council:
- Reviewed the draft Employee Handbook and will send suggested changes to Administrator Law prior to the next meeting in which the draft handbook will be discussed.
- Approved the publication of a RFP for contract municipal attorney services.
- Authorized the purchase of radio-read gas meters.
- Approved applying for a grant to place recycled tire picnic tables and benches at the S. Second and Mulberry block.
- Heard a project close-out report from the City Administrator on the Amity sidewalk project.
- Approved a bid for investment of idle cash with Landmark National Bank.
- Heard that applications are still being accepted for the vacant Planning & Development Director position and current staff are covering in that department.
- Conducted a 45-minute executive session for non-elected personnel and requested the presence of HR partners representative, Kristina Dietrick.
